King Kong (2005)
An ambitious make or break movie production has Naomi Watts sending a giant gorilla's libido into overdrive. Not one to miss an opportunity, Jack Black decides to capture Kong and take him to New York City so he can run amok and kill people with really shitty attitudes.
Peter Jackson's vision of King Kong didn't quite meet with the level of enthusiasm I thought it deserved. FX are really good if not excellent, action is good, drama is in place, players all do a good job. Granted, there are moments of thick cheese, but in a movie about a giant ape, is a chip shot with a tommy gun really that hard to swallow?
The part of the movie in NYC is what really seals the deal for me on this being a great movie. Maybe not the original version of beauty and the beast, but certainly one worthy of its place on my movie shelf.
