John Dies at the End (2012)
An unlikely pair of dropouts get thrust into the world of the supernatural weird and find themselves in an inter-dimensional war. This is a rather cool movie that watches like a combo of Dr Who, Spun, and Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer. Our unlikely pair of heroes traverse time, space, dimension, and sanity to battle the forces of over sized insects, animated lunch meats and maniacal aliens bent on world domination. Clever writing and identifiable characters help propel this one along as things get weirder and more twisted. The semi narration style made popular in Zombieland is well used. If you enjoy the comedy/horror genre flavored with sci-fi, this one serves it up well. Recommended.
