Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)
The story of how the wizard came to Oz. Sam Rami serves up an offering that is in many ways comparable to Tim Burton's offering of Alice in Wonderland, while not quite as visual or loud, it has the same overall feel while being a little more clever. I actually thought it was Burton initially but the appearance of Bruce Campbell sent that notion to its grave. The film itself is standard Disney. A solid production value with good FX, moving story line, good tempo, and yet another top shelf villain with the origin of the Wicked Witch (a role Mila Kunis clearly reveled in), seriously scary flying baboons and a warm fuzzy tacked on the end. So a little history on a great classic along with the knowledge that all the crap that gets sucked up in Kansas apparently wind up in Oz.
